Every year, Lorne Trottier, McGill University alumnus and benefactor, in collaboration with Joe “Dr. Joe” Schwarcz‘s Office for Science and Society, organizes a fantastic, two-night symposium with stellar guest speakers who come to talk to the public on topics pertaining to pseudoscience, scientific research, health care, etc., essentially blowing away the fog of misinformation on these issues.
This year’s symposium will be held on Monday October 28 and Tuesday October 29 and features Eugenie Scott (evolution vs. creationism and climate change), Michael Specter (denialism and mass-media-fueled misinformation), Tim Caulfield (health myths), and John Ioannidis (lack of reproducibility in medical research and what can be done to improve it).
Entry to the symposium is free. I will be there and hope to see you there too! Arrive early if you want a seat: places usually “sell out”.
